It should be noted, however, that, contrary to the representations in the trademark application, the design depicted in the trademark was not used in the year the Club was founded in 1875, but was originally used by the Lincoln Park Yacht Club, which was founded in 1890. The Chicago Yacht Club adopted the present burgee when the two clubs merged in 1920.
